Helpful Tips for
the CadCARD SlideChart
DRAWING SCALE Ð Slide the inner panel until the correct drawing scale appears in the window. This setting controls all other values on the front of the CadCARD.
SCALE FACTOR Ð Use this multiplier for the
insertion scale when inserting blocks or wblocks onto scaled drawings. This is also the factor to use for
LTSCALE to control the appearance of linetype symbols, for PATTERN SCALE to
control the size of hatch patterns, and for DIMSCALE to control the effect of scale
on dimensioning variables.
INVERSE MULTIPLIER Ð This multiplier can
be used to convert back from scaled drawing to full size (or 1:1).
SHEET SIZES and USABLE AREAS Ð Displays
the usable working area on various size drawing paper at a given scale.
TEXT
SIZES Ð Indicates the proper value for various sizes and shows the relative
height for the current scale factor.
FITTED
TEST and ALIGNED TEST Ð Displays the different effect on text appearance when
using either of these two text options.
WIDTH
FACTORS Ð To control the width of text, input a factor relative to ÒnormalÓ
text. (Normal text =1, wider
text=number greater than 1, narrow text= number less than 1.) This is not related to the value for
text height.
CONTROL
CODES Ð Lists the proper key-in codes to use the special symbols available in
the text commands.
OBLIQUING
ANGLE Ð Illustrates the capability to place ÒslantedÓ text at various degrees
of incline.
FONTS
Ð Indicates an example of standard AutoCAD font files.
TEXT
GAUGE Ð Handy gauge to measure existing text on drawings or sketches when
trying to Òmatch whatÕs there.Ó
FUNCTION
KEYS Ð Displays the standard function key assignment.
PDMODE
Ð Lists the various options available for the symbols to be used when placing
points.
UNITS
AND ANGLES Ð Provides illustrations of the different systems of linear units
and angle measurement for use when inputting data and how data in output in
dimensions or prompts.
DIMENSIONING
VARIABLES Ð A listing of quick definitions of various dimensioning
variables.
DIMENSION
PLACEMENT and ORIENTATION Ð Shows how the various DIMVAR settings control the
position and orientation of dimension text.
ROUNDING
OFF Ð Displays how the DIMRND variable affects the output of dimension text by
rounding off to various values.
ZERO
DIMENSIONS Ð Shows how AutoCAD controls dimensions with ÒzerosÓ by means of the
DIMZIN dimension variable.
MIRRORED
TEXT Ð Indicates which setting to use with the MIRROR command to cause tet to
be reverse reading or right reading, and the effect of mirroring on text
justification.
TOLERANCES
Ð Shows the system variables for controlling and displaying tolerances used
during dimensioning operations.
POSTSCRIPT
TEXT and ALTERNATE TEXT Ð Lists the variable names with which to add additional
text to a dimension string, or to add alternate dimension values to the
dimension text strings.
SCALES
Ð Provided along each edge are ruled scales for easy use to measure or compare
elements on existing drawings or sketches. One edge shows 1/8th and 1/4th
architectural scales and the other shows fractions and decimals of an
inch.
*Some
definitions and values have been simplified or Òrounded-off.Ó Refer to the AutoCAD software for a
more detailed listing of the functions and operations available with the
current release of the software.
